Refresh your abode with these super simple tips for specific areas to create more space and flow in your home.
Tip 1 –A fresh pair of Eyes
Walk around your home one room at a time
What would you take, leave, throw out, or sell, if moving house
Then proceed to do just that
This simple exercise brings not only focus but an abundance of fresh ideas
Simple small changes do make a huge difference - and doesn't have to cost much
The purpose being to create more space and more flow in your home
And it can be fun!
The simplicity and the enrichment can naturally flow into other areas
Start now - one room at a time
Start with whatever room calls the strongest
A practical exercise to do because it puts in perspective what is needed and what is not, which normally makes it easier to let go of the surplus
Plus you're ahead if there is a move on the cards later on
Who knows what's round the corner when we start clearing space as the old adage goes:
clear out the old creating space for the new
Tip 2 – Are the kitchen cupboards calling?
I have a thing for kitchen cupboards because I have done so many and because they become hoarding spaces for outdated tinned foods, teas and spices
I have found 4 and 5 years-out-of-date tins in the kitchen
Your reward: your kitchen feels amazing afterwards....and so do you!
Keep it simple - start with one drawer - like the cutlery drawer
Tip 3 - Fridge and Freezer inspection
Are both jammed packed full? No space to see what's in there?
Generally recommended to defrost your freezer every 3 to 6 months especially if the ice accumulation reaches a quarter of an inch.
Not defrosting regularly can lead to freezer malfunction and food spoilage - to avoid at all cost - given the price of groceries these days
Time to defrost and save on energy bills
Tip 4 - Sinks and Drains Attention
Dirty sinks look dirty.
Shiny, clean sinks are like a big beaming smile from your kitchen.
Attention to Drains – they block when pouring oils down the sink. Clean frying pans with kitchen paper towel first.
It is expensive calling the plumber especially on the weekend!
Tip 5 – Over-crowed Lounge area
It's a prime clutter area
It's one room that can be over-crowded with furniture and stuff.
Ask; what is surplus, what needs to go, what needs replaced
Roll up your sleeves and make a start, follow your feeling
Tip 6 – Let the sun shine in
Dirty or unclean windows can dull the feel of your home.
Clean monthly or try a window cleaner
Hang a crystal on your window for rainbow magic on the walls - kids love this
Tip 7 - Book Cases
There are many solutions for book storage to suit your taste
Versatile styles including: traditional, modern and decorative
Built in book-cases maximize vertical space
Custom book cases, tailored to fit your specific needs
Time for a book review or a book sale?
Tip 8 – 365 less things
Ornaments and Bric-a-bracs – less is definitely more
365 less things - remove one item each day for a year to clear
out a whole year of clutter
Or try 28 days with FLA - focused loving attention
Be ruthless with clutter
Relocate bric-a-brac to your local charity shop
Tip 9 - Bathroom Boom

Bathrooms can be natural clutter zones. Where to start? The top drawer!
Clear out outdated medicines, makeup and the miscellaneous
Some new luxurious soft mats your feet will love - plenty to choose from
Don't gloss over the toilet seat. Is it time for a new one?
There are lots to choose from these days. You can get a classic option or if you want something a bit more fun, there are lots of quirky prints available online. The kids will love them and adults too. Double Boom
Final Tip: Scented candles, low lighting An essential oil diffuser? Bath time boom!
Tip 10 - Put the kettle on
Well done you. Time for a cuppa and a biscuit.
