Tip 1 - Simple changes transform
It can cost little to nothing to uplift, freshen and change the vibe in your living room
unless of course new items are needed
The lounge area is a prime area for comfort clutter, as we spend much time in here
Time to give this room some FLA - focused loving attention
Lets get started and watch this room blossom
Tip 2 – The Dust Gatherers - Lounges are notorious for bric-a-bac
Ornaments and knick-knacks – less is definitely more to showcase the pieces that you do love
Instant reward - Takes much less time to dust
Remove withered dying plants or repot and revive
Add an air purifier with a HEPA filter to capture airborne dust and allergens improving indoor air quality
Tip 3 - The masterpiece

A real fire is a beautiful masterpiece to be showcased and is such a welcoming feature
A warm glowing fire creates a space of tranquility and relaxation and can uplift moods
Remove everything off the mantle-piece - clean and experiment with replacing
Tip 4 - Furniture review
This tends to be a room that accumulates furniture and stuff
Approach with playfulness -Experiment with moving things around
Cleaning/hoovering as you go
Consider what is surplus and or needs replaced
Free up some space and let the room breathe...
Crammed Books cases look unsightly and gather dust
Time for a book review - donate - swap - book sale
If you ever move - you will have less boxes to pack
Tall narrow book cases saves floor space and maximise storage capacity
“Remember: you are not what you own. Storing all those books doesn’t make you any smarter; it just makes your life more cluttered.” —Francine Jay
Tip 5 - Windows
Small living rooms (flats) - Attention to blinds and net curtains:
Experiment removing allowing in lots of natural light
Dirty windows dull the room
Find a window cleaner who can come monthly if you don't have time.
For extra sparkle, use a squeegee after washing the window down with soapy water and a sponge.
Using the squeegee in a rainbow pattern or S pattern will minimise streaking

Tip 6 - How old are the pictures?

Time to review everything hanging on walls
Does the picture or photo inspire you?
Sometimes white space or a mirror to reflect light and dimensionality can be greater for a space than a print
Tip 7 - Mirrors
Mirrors reflect light and create a sense of spaciousness
If very little natural light hang a mirror
If no fire-place, place a large standing mirror against the wall as a main focal point
There are so many styles and shapes to suit your taste
Glass doors/walls are also great to access more light into this room
Tip 8 - Dressing up the sofa
Create a cosy and stylish focal point in the lounge
Add cushions, throws and accessories to enhance its appearance
Mix textures and patterns: velvet, linen and cotton to add texture
Choose colours that compliment your sofa and room decor
There are no strict rules in styling
Or has the sofa past its sell-by-date? Can always wait for the sales!
Tip 9 - Fires enrich any space

Lights placed at different heights create a well-lit warm layered effect
Candle light adds a beautiful warm cosy glow at night
No fire place? You can purchase fake fireplaces that look real that add
the burning, red, glowing fire element that enriches any room
Fake or real - still to be showcased
Tip 10 - finishing touches - the best part
A large beautiful plant - a beautiful bunch of flowers
An aroma diffuser or some scented pot pourri
A large dish full of cream candles on the coffee table
Take a moment to stand and feel the room
Take a moment to clock how you feel...
